BASIC PROGRAM |

Beginners (First 3-4 Months) Overview: New students practice at least twice-a-week for approximately three months. New practitioners will be introduced to the basic body structures and short ranged reflex drills. Foundational applications will involve various simple hand and leg techniques with a partner. Until the beginner works up his/her skills, a great majority of activities at the beginning level will be performed at or near walking speed. The following is a list of teaching/learning content for this level. a. Basic standing in the pinched knee stance "Yee Ji kim Yeun Ma" and slant body pivoting. b. First Wing Chun Hand Set "Siu Nim Tao" - the set contains many small techniques (small ideas) that prepares the new student for foundational applications. c. Twelve free hand techniques "Sup Yee San Sik" - a series of short ranged striking, jamming, and blocking techniques d. Single arm sticky hand "Chi Don Sau" - single hand touch refinement & reflex drills with a partner |
